How can I access my z drive from my personal laptop?

Answer

There are two ways to access your Z-drive from your personal computer. For one-time access, you will want to use Roanoke College Remote Computing (RCRC) to access your Z-drive. For long-term access you can connect your Z-drive through the Mapping a Network Drive option.

For instructions on mapping a network drive for Windows, click here. For Mac, please click here. Please note that in order to connect to your Z-drive without RCRC, you MUST be on a campus wireless internet. For off-campus access contact Information Technology at helpdesk@roanoke.edu or (540) 375-2225.

Detailed information on Roanoke College Remote Computing (RCRC) is available at :

RCRC is the ability to remote into an on-campus lab computer from your own electronic device from anywhere in the world! This gives you the ability to use software that is only available on campus while you are at home, in your dorm room, or out of town.

This is particularly useful for our study abroad and commuter students. Also, you can print to any on-campus lab printer when you are remoted using the Roanoke College Remote Computing software.

RCRC is compatible with:

  • Windows PC (XP, Vista and 7)
  • Mac OS X
  • iOS Devices (iPad, iPod Touch)
  • Android phones (beta).

The following software is available on the various remote computing labs

  • Adobe Acrobat
  • Adobe Photoshop Essentials
  • Flash
  • Minitab
  • IMage Magik
  • Stata
  • Spartan Student
  • Mathematica
